Key course content and outcomes
English and maths will be provided by the local Cornwall Adult Education Centre
Each Learner will have personalised learning targets to suit their needs.
They will receive full one to one support for approximately 12 – 24 months and will undertake a period of time learning skills for work, along with developing independence by using public transport, cooking basic meals, budgeting and understanding personal safety.
After this, participant will be expected to move from community-based work experience placements, into commercial work placements where the individual will have the chance of gaining a sustainable job at the end of the internship. The role the participant undertakes in their work experience placement with an employer will meet a real business need for the employer.
Ultimately, we hope all individuals will leave the programme close to the labour market or in employment.
Students wishing to undertake this provision must have a valid EHCP with an identified learning/cognitive need or disability specified within their EHCP; the EHCP will be fully discussed at students Year 10 review which will determine the suitability of the Post 16 offer.
Qualifications are available in:
English and Maths through Cornwall Adult Education Centres.
A participant may also have access to qualifications that they may require for their Work Placement/Employment, dependent on the learners own individual ability and requirements.
Those on offer may include:
HABC – Food Safety, Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Manual Handling, Risk Assessment, Customer Service
Or others as determined in their Individual Learning Plan
This provision will contribute to the participant progression as they will receive 1:1 support throughout together with independent Advice and Guidance on the following topics:
Employment, Independent Living, Community Inclusion and Health Issues.
On completion of their first year on the programme learners are expected to either remain on programme for a further year to continue to develop their skills or enter a form of Supported Employment. If neither of these are attainable for the individual, the likely future progression from the programmed would either be a form of voluntary work or exploration of other supported living/ongoing independence related or care centre provision

Pocket money for Lunch may be required if the participant does not bring a packed lunch with them.

Total minimum hours = 540 hours per year
